Well, Trump won. While I am disappointed, I can't say I'm too surprised. I have nothing revolutionary to say on the matter, rather I'm just documenting my feelings for future reference. I'm not even American, but I stayed up all night watching the map slowly fill with the blood of women and minorities, wondering when the so-called "red mirage" would finally effervesce. No such luck.
Even then I had hope for Pennsylvania and I knew it was over when it flipped Republican. I wish I could offer a better analysis, but I'm not yet as well-versed in politics as I'd like to be. I'm just a helpless observer who will suffer the global consequences of a singular nation's failure. I think Americans forget that sometimes, that their empire impacts the entire world, not just their country. And of course the Global South will bear the brunt of it. I worry about the climate too, Any chance of avoiding catastrophe seems to have disappeared.
That's not to say I'm pro-Democrat either. It's scary that everything has shifted so far right, that they're the "progressive" party. Empire is empire no matter how diverse the figurehead. The lesser of two evils. It's a phrase I've been having to condend with a lot recently. Both parties have blood on their hands and a system built off war and exploitation would never allow it to end. Even so, at least Kamala still played the farce of democracy. She is merely the face of the party whereas the Republican Party is Trump. I don't know what I'm saying anymore. I fear for the poor, the immigrants and the ethnic minorities, the glaciers and women. I fear for Palestine. I'm not naive, I know the Democrats would have only delayed all this destruction, but still I wish we had more time.
