While I will admit I've made the page hideous because it's funny, I do not play about my first love Justin Drew Bieber. I don't "stan" him, because I think celebrity culture is awful and I'm also not 12, but unfortunately I have an obsessive personality and Mr. Bieber had the misfortune of being my first victim so it is only right to document this here. Let me set the scene. I'm in a Turkish restaurant with my parents. It's a cold evening, I remember this much. I didn't even make the connection that this was Justin Bieber until later. All I'd known about him was that he was floppy haired and sang Never Say Never and Baby. I was like 7 or 8 dude, I didn't have social media or an internet addiction yet. I don't quite remember how it went from that to a full on obsession (and I'm serious about it being an obsession) but I'd spend hours watching his music videos and finding out everything I could about him. I even memorised a list of facts I found on Facebook (recorded below for posterity's sake) and carried around a tracing paper drawing of him. I found out about Chuck Norris jokes through him (I haven't heard one in YEARS OMG.) I'd even started signing off my texts with "JDB" for some reason???? and I bought purple Converse from T.K. Maxx .... That's right guys, I wasn't always loyal to my colour palette :(

I'd begged my mother for the Girlfriend perfume for my birthday, the one with the ridiculous pink and purple spiral bottle. I didn't even know what it smelled like but I had to have it. It was cheap, so she got it for me. I used up that bottle probably within the year, but I recently purchased a new one due to nostalgia. It wasn't easy, they go for £100s online since its been discontinued which is insane!!! If you're curious, it smells identical to Viva La Juicy, which is prety accessible though I don't think this scent profile is one I'd choose to wear now. That being said, I had my friend smell all my perfumes once, and when they got to Girlfriend their first remark was that it was "giving me", even over the bottle I've actually been wearing daily. When I told them what it was they started laughing. Maybe you can just smell the Bieber Fever on me lmao.
Also in 2015, the year I dub the Bieber renaissance, he did a campaign for Calvin Klein. The store at the mall had a giant poster of him, so I would make ANY excuse to walk past it and see him LMAO.
I started losing interest in around 2018, but I still listen to his music regularly. Partially out of nostalgia, but also because it's genuinely good. I'll probably expand on this more in my music pages but genuinely the Journals album is so criminally underrated. It's one of his first more serious albums and I truly think if it was anyone else's name on the cover, it would be critically acclaimed. Sigh.... I wish Justin Bieber did more R&B. I still know all the lyrics to his older albums by virtue of listening to them on loop EVERY SINGLE DAY, as well as his rap in Lolly. I'd listen to that whenever we had Computer Science class in Year 7 because we were allowed to listen to music. The girl who sat next to me was scandalised by the explicit content lmaooo.
I'm not going to say it's solely because of Justin Bieber, but I do too this day have a soft spot for brunettes with brown eyes... The Boyfriend and As Long as You Love Me music videos awakened something in 10 year old me (hmm also a soft spot for people who have been beaten up it seems) and was probably my only actual "celebrity crush" ever. Jungkook was more like gang to me but that's for another shrine.
Speaking of Jungkook, his cover of Nothing Like Us.... SO GOOD. I'd embed it, but I already have music playing :3 Anyway, I got really into K-Pop a couple of years after Justin Bieber, and one of my favourite groups was 2NE1. Tell me why I only find out last year they had a "I Am The Best" remix featuring Justin Bieber that they never put out.... ARGHHHHHH!!!! CL did share Justin Bieber's part on a live but I WANT THE WHOLE SONG???
